The highlight though was his consistency, something that he would like to transfer to the international stage.

His position among the top run-getters in the competition puts him in direct competition with the likes of Mohammad Naim, Munim Shahriar and Anamul Haque who are among those knocking on the T20I team’s door. Could it be Talukdar’s time when Bangladesh pick their squad for the England series next month?

Much of the blame was placed on the extensive use of the pitches at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SBNS) in Mirpur. Given how worn out the surfaces become at the home of cricket due to year-round action, it is no surprise that the Chattogram and Sylhet legs have witnessed comparatively more high-scoring BPL contests over the years.

However, this year, in the ninth edition of the franchise-based tournament, Mirpur witnessed more high scores than before, especially in the early stages of the tournament. In the first phase, 152.06 runs per innings on average were registered in eight matches at the SBNS. The Chattogram phase that followed had yielded 156.29 runs per innings on average across 12 games, while Sylhet remained the venue to witness the highest number, at 161.25 runs per innings on average in eight matches.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Australian David Moore as Head of Programs which is akin to director of coaching. The 58-year old has been roped in on a two-year term, the BCB said in a press release today.

Moore will be responsible for planning, devising strategies and implementation of the HP and Bangladesh Tigers programs to ensure that these programs directly benefit the National Team’s interests while working on the development programs for coaches.

“I’m very excited to be commencing my role as Head of Programs at the BCB. I look forward to working with the Head Coach, his coaching and support staff and players to assist them to unleash their potential,” Moore was quoted as saying in the BCB media release.

“I am delighted to have been appointed to oversee and develop some very important programs that will provide opportunities for elite cricketers to perform in the international arena,” the media release quoted Moore as saying.

The idea to appoint Moore was to ensure a more seamless movement of players from HP and other sides for the national team cause.

Moore, who played just one first-class game for New South Wales as a wicket-keeper.
