Sabbir Rahman, one of Bangladesh’s regulars a few years ago, opened up about trolls he had faced for using a TikTok account.

Rahman believes that criticism only came because he is a cricketer, despite the fact that everyone in Bangladesh has an account on this mobile video-making platform.

Sabbir Rahman, one of the squad members of Bangladesh’s 2015 ODI World Cup, was once projected as one of the next big things in Bangladesh cricket.

The left-handed batter has played 66 ODIs, 11 Tests, and 48 T20Is thus far, but his consistent failures at the highest level left him sidelined in recent years, and simultaneously, he failed to live up to the expectations.

Till date, he has 481 runs in red-ball cricket, 1,333 runs in 50-over cricket, and 977 runs in the shortest format of the game.

In a recent interview with BDCrictime, Sabbir, who last played an international match in October against Pakistan, spoke about his ambitions in the sport. At the same time, he also slammed his critics who made jokes about him for using TikTok in his personal life.

“TikTok is part of people’s personal lives. It’s just for fun, that’s what I did. I don’t think there is anyone in Bangladesh who doesn’t have TikTok. Maybe everyone makes fun of it because a cricketer does it. I don’t care about these things. My focus is on my work, practice, and playing matches. I don’t see, don’t know, don’t understand what people say,” Sabbir told BDCrictime.

“…There is not something to talk about in the past. My goal is to be able to play with discipline in the future.”

Although Sabbir played a T20I last year, his last ODI came in July 2019 and his last Test came in February 2018. The 31-year-old is currently playing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for Khulna Tigers.

After losing their first game of the Bangladesh Premier League season, Chattogram Challengers (CCH) registered an important win in the previous match against Khulna Tigers and are set to host Fortune Barishal (FBA) on January 13 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The Barishal-based side, on the other hand, managed to win their last match against Rangpur Riders and will eye for a win to improve their standing in the league.

Their batting has been marvellous so far this season with the middle-order delivering on a consistent basis. Afghanistan batter Ibrahim Zadran scored a brilliant half-century in the last match (52 off 41) while Mehidy Hasan Miraz accompanied him in the middle, scoring 43 off 29. Fortune Barishal captain Shakib Al Hasan, opener Anamul Haque and Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan were fined 15 per cent of their match fees each for their misconduct during their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Shakib and Nurul were fined for their part in the drama over who will take first strike for Barishal during their chase and which bowler would open the attack for Rangpur.

Anamul, on the other hand, was penalised for arguing with the on-field umpire after the third umpire upheld the original lbw decision taken against him, which he believed was wrong.

The players accepted that their behaviour was out of line and accepted the misconduct charges laid on them by match referee Akhtar Ahmad.

The first incident occurred at the start of Barishal’s 159-run chase against Rangpur.

Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan was set to open the attack for Rangpur and Barishal’s Chaturanga de Silva was ready to take first strike.

But seeing the left-hander Chaturanga on strike, Rangpur skipper Nurul took the ball from Rakibul and handed it to right-arm off-spinner Mahedi Hasan.

Seeing this change of bowlers, Barishal openers also swapped places, with right-hander Anamul Haque going to the striker’s end.
